Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026

This page explains what information 81i collects when you use our platform, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. We've tried to write it the way we'd want to read it — plainly, and without hiding anything in fine print.

What we collect

We collect the minimum we need to run the product properly:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored as a hash, never in plain text).
  • Usage data — the messages you send, the files you upload, and which AI provider handled each request. We keep this so features like project memory and audit logs actually work.
  • Billing information — handled entirely by our payment processor. We see your plan and payment status, never your full card number.
  • Device and log data — IP address, browser type, and timestamps, collected automatically for security and debugging.
  • Your own API keys, if you choose to add them — encrypted at rest and used only to route your requests.

How we use it

We use your data to:

  • Run the core product — routing your requests, remembering your projects, and keeping your account secure.
  • Improve reliability — understanding which providers are slow or failing so we can route around them faster.
  • Communicate with you — service updates, security alerts, and, only if you opt in, product news.
  • Prevent abuse — detecting unusual activity that could indicate a compromised account or a violation of our Terms.

We do not use your conversation content to train AI models, ours or anyone else’s.

Who we share with

We share data only where it’s necessary to run 81i, and never for advertising. That means:

  • The AI provider handling your specific request (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Groq, and the others in our routing pool) — they receive the message content needed to generate a response, subject to their own data handling terms.
  • Infrastructure partners we rely on to operate the platform, such as our database and email providers, under contracts that require them to protect your data.
  • Law enforcement or regulators, but only when we’re legally required to, and we’ll notify you unless we’re prohibited from doing so.

We never sell your data. There are no ad networks, no data brokers, and no exceptions to that.

Security

All data is encrypted with 256-bit AES both in transit (TLS) and at rest. API keys you add are encrypted separately and are never displayed in full once saved. Access to production data internally is limited to the engineers who need it to keep the service running, and every access is logged.

Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data and conversation history within 30 days, except where we’re required to retain records for legal or tax purposes (such as billing history).

Your rights

Wherever you’re located, you can ask us to:

  • Send you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that’s inaccurate.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your projects and conversation history in a portable format.

Email us at privacy@81i.com and we’ll handle it within 30 days.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies to keep you logged in and to understand product usage at a high level. None of them are used to track you across other websites. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

Children

81i is not directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Changes

If we make a material change to this policy, we’ll email you and update the date at the top of this page before the change takes effect. We won’t make changes that reduce your rights without your consent.
